TAKING NEW ENGAGEMENTS · Q4 2026

Infrastructure

surprises.

Setting up your first real office network, or untangling a cloud estate that outgrew its budget — same engineer either way. Cloud, networking, servers and security, built properly and explained in plain English. One accountable consultant, no agency layers, no handoff to someone you never met.

Two kinds of people call me.

Neither one needs to know what's wrong before they get in touch. That's the job.

JUST GETTING SET UP

“We've grown past sharing files over Dropbox and hoping for the best.”

Five to fifty people, no IT person, and a setup that grew one purchase at a time. You don't need an enterprise architecture — you need the basics done right the first time so they don't have to be redone in two years.

  • Getting everyone onto proper accounts and logins
  • File sharing where the right people see the right things
  • Backups that would actually restore
  • Knowing what you're paying for and what you can drop

ALREADY RUNNING AT SCALE

“It works, but nobody's confident it's right — or that we're not overpaying.”

An estate built by several people over several years, a cloud bill nobody fully owns, and a security posture that has never been independently looked at. You need a second set of eyes with no product to sell you.

  • Cloud and licence spend nobody has audited
  • Flat networks and standing privileged access
  • Migrations that stalled halfway
  • An in-house team that needs backup, not replacing
01

Capabilities

IT systems engineering across the whole stack — from the network floor to the processes running on top of it. Not a menu of managed services.

CLOUD ENGINEERING

Architecture, migration, right-sizing

AWS, Azure and hybrid estates. Landing zones, workload migration, and the unglamorous work of matching instance classes to what actually runs on them. Aging server in a closet you're tired of babysitting? Moving it up is usually straightforward — and sometimes the honest answer is that it should stay put.

NETWORKING

Segmentation, connectivity, edge

VLAN and subnet architecture, SD-WAN, site-to-site tunnels between offices and cloud, and remote access for staff — client VPN where it's still the right answer, ZTNA where it isn't. Firewall policy someone can still read in two years.

ENTERPRISE IT & WORKPLACE

Domains, servers and app delivery

Active Directory and Windows Server roles, moving a growing shop off workgroup onto a real domain, file shares with permissions that hold up to an audit. Plus published apps and virtual desktops — Citrix Workspace, RDS and Azure Virtual Desktop. If you'd rather not own a server room at all, the same setup runs cloud-first or hybrid — whichever actually costs you less.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Consolidation and resilience

Server and storage consolidation, monitoring that pages a human only when it matters, and restore procedures that have actually been tested.

SECURITY & ZERO-TRUST

Identity-first access control

MFA enforcement, least-privilege review, device posture, conditional access. Rolled out in stages so nobody's workday breaks on a Tuesday.

RANSOMWARE

Assessment, response, recovery

Two full recoveries delivered, neither with a ransom paid. Pre-incident: backup validation and blast-radius review. Post-incident: containment, restore, and hardening so it does not repeat.

PROCESS & AUTOMATION

Automate the steps nobody should be doing

Map the manual workflow, remove the handoffs, script what's left. Includes putting AI tools into the business with real guardrails — so staff stop pasting client data into whatever tab is open.

STACK COST TUNING

Find the spend nobody owns

Idle reserved capacity, duplicate SaaS licenses, over-provisioned tiers, auto-renewals nobody remembers signing. Typically pays for the engagement.

02

Raeb OS

A working sketch of what an engagement produces — play with it, nothing here is a form. Toggle the policies, move the spend slider, run a command — the numbers respond the way a real posture review does.

03

How I work

Every engagement starts the same way, whether it ends in a migration or a two-page memo.

01

Scope call

Thirty minutes, free, no obligation. Describe it however you'd describe it to a friend — no prep, no jargon, no need to know the right words. Sometimes the answer is “you don't need me yet,” and I'll say so.

02

Audit

Ten business days, fixed fee. Read-only access, interviews with the people who actually run things, and a look at what you're paying for.

03

Roadmap

Findings ranked by risk and by dollars, with effort estimates. Yours to keep and act on — with me or without me.

04

Execute & hand off

I build it, document it, and train whoever inherits it. The goal is that you stop needing me for that thing.

04

Engagement models

Four shapes. Most clients start with the audit and decide from there.

FIXED FEE · 10 BUSINESS DAYS

Infrastructure audit

The standard entry point, scoped to your size — a ten-person shop is not a ten-day enterprise review, and isn't priced like one. Full look at your setup, security and spend, ending in a ranked roadmap you own outright.

  • Cloud and licence cost analysis
  • Zero-trust gap assessment
  • Backup and restore validation
  • Prioritized remediation roadmap

The audit fee is credited in full toward any project that follows it.

SCOPED · PROJECT RATE

Project engagement

A defined build with a defined end. Migration, segmentation rollout, zero-trust implementation, or incident recovery.

  • Written scope and acceptance criteria
  • Weekly progress against milestones
  • Documentation as a deliverable
  • Handoff and training included

PER BUILD · HOURLY OR MONTHLY

Technical delivery oversight

You have a product to ship and developers building it. I'm the technical authority in the room — reviewing the work, holding the timeline honest, and translating between the people funding it and the people writing it.

  • Requirements into technical scope
  • Developer and vendor management
  • Architecture and security review
  • Plain-language status for owners

MONTHLY RETAINER

Fractional IT leadership

For teams that need senior technical judgment on call but nowhere near a full-time hire. Vendor decisions, architecture review, escalation.

  • Set hours per month, rolling
  • Architecture and vendor review
  • Escalation path for your team
  • Quarterly posture and spend report

Straight answers

The questions people hesitate to ask on a first call.

Are we too small for this?

No. A five-person business with one server and a mess of logins is a completely normal engagement. Work is scoped and priced to the size of the problem, not to a minimum contract.

What does it cost?

You get a number before anything starts. Audits are a fixed fee, projects are quoted against a written scope, retainers are a set monthly amount. No hourly meter running in the background, no invoice that surprises you.

Do we have to replace everything?

Almost never. Most engagements are three or four targeted fixes, in priority order, on the equipment you already own. Rip-and-replace is a last resort and you’ll hear the reasoning before it’s ever recommended.

We already have an IT guy — is this a conflict?

Usually the opposite. A lot of this work is backing up an in-house person or MSP on something outside their depth, or giving them the outside opinion they’ve been asking you for. Nobody gets replaced by me.

Will we be locked into you afterward?

No. Everything gets documented and handed over, and whoever runs it next gets trained on it. The roadmap from an audit is yours whether you hire me to execute it or take it somewhere else.

We’re not sure what’s actually wrong.

That’s the normal starting point, and figuring it out is the job. “Things are slow,” “I think we’re overpaying,” and “I’m worried we’d lose everything” are all complete descriptions of a problem.

Start with a thirty‑minute scope call.

No pitch deck, no discovery questionnaire. Tell me what's breaking, what's slow, or what you're about to spend money on, and I'll tell you straight whether it's worth doing — including when the answer is “leave it alone for now.”
